President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump traveled to Shanksville, PA today to remember the victims of 9/11. It was in that special place, the place where Flight 93 went down, “a moment when Americans fought back” to stop the terrorists, Trump said.
The passengers and crew members of Flight 93 “rose up, defied the enemy, took control of their destiny and changed the course of history,” Trump said. “A band of brave patriots turned the tide on our nation’s enemies and joined the immortal ranks of our nation’s heroes.”
Just before 9:30 a.m. on that day, passengers and crew members used airfones to report their plane had been hijacked and found out about the other prongs of the attack. They voted to try to overtake the hijackers and pushed their way into the cockpit. Rather than lose control of the plane, the hijacker pilot downed it, killing all 44 people aboard, including the terrorists.
“They attacked the enemy, they fought until the very end and they stopped the forces of terror and defeated this wicked, horrible, evil plan,” Trump said.
Trump talked about what it was like in those final minutes as the passengers talked and planned their action.
From Daily Caller:
“In the last 20 minutes, many placed their final calls home, whispering those eternal words, I love you,” he continued. “Some said the Lord’s prayer, and then they bravely charged the cockpit.
He told the heartbreaking story of Dorothy Garcia who asked investigators for what perhaps seemed like an impossible task, to see if they could find her husband Andrew’s wedding ring in that field where the plane went down. How, remarkably, she received it two months later. Inside the ring was their inscription – “All my love, 8-2-69” — their wedding date.
Trump signed a proclamation commemorating 9/11 designating Tuesday as “Patriots Day,” saying, “today, we honor the memories of the souls we lost on September 11, 2001, and pay tribute to all of the patriots who have sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom. We pray for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen currently serving our Nation in harm’s way.”
Trump pledged to keep up the fight to “never flinch in the face of evil and to do whatever it takes to keep America safe.”

Now there is a “Tower of Voices” standing on the site as a heroic “symbol of defiance” to remember the heroes and how they averted more tragedy with their actions.
And here’s another video which shows more of the memorial.
