LeBron James is the greatest basketball player in the world and there’s no question about that. He’s going to go down as one of the greatest players to ever play the game. When it comes to sports no one can touch him. When it comes to politics he’s got a long way to go.
We all know he campaigned for Hillary and doesn’t like Donald Trump. That’s been covered pretty extensively and it’s certainly not a good look. LeBron is also a big gun control guy and he’s gone on the record many times call for gun control.
There’s just one little problem.
Bron rolls around with guys who are strapped constantly.
After the February 14, 2018, attack on gun-free Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School the Bleacher Report indicated LeBron criticized laws allowing 19-year-old “minors” to buy a gun and called for the passage of more gun control.
But LeBron is fine with being surrounded by guns for defense of himself and his family. TMZ reports that news of a burglaries of “more than 24 homes of the rich and famous” in Los Angeles has led LeBron to fortify his dwelling. This fortification includes “at least 10 armed security personnel at the home — including off-duty police officers.”
Celebrity gun control advocate Kim Kardashian modeled this same kind of hypocrisy after being robbed in Paris in 2016. TMZ reported Kardashian “met with some ex-special force members from the Israeli army, ex-CIA agents as well as former Secret Service members” after the robbery occurred and hired an unspecified number of former Secret Service agents as part of the effort to “[amp] up her security to Presidential levels.”
This is great. LeBron should have a gun. He should have guys with guns protecting him. The right to carry a gun is one of the many great things about this country. However, the hypocrisy here is pretty wild. It’s easy to sit there and call for gun control when you are always protected by people with guns. It’s easy to tell Americans to accept every refugee in the world into their communities when you live in a castle. It’s easy to sit back and call the cops racist when you don’t need them to protect you.
Pains me as a lifelong Lakers fan (they are going to win it all this year, btw) to say it but LeBron really needs to open his eyes a little when it comes to politics.
