MSNBC is off the rails. We get it. They gave up on reporting the truth a long time ago and Donald Trump’s presidency was the last nail in the coffin for them in terms of journalistic integrity. They jumped off the deep end with no plan on ever coming back.
However, that’s problematic for a few reasons.
Most notably, MSNBC is harming the country by consistently saying reckless things that have no connection to reality. Impressionable people are tuning in thinking they are getting the truth and they are getting nothing but innuendo, speculation, and vitriol.
That was evident on Sunday when MSNBC’s Joy Reid let some guy on the air who said the following as a result of the news that White House official Rob Porter was accused of violence against his wife.
Giridharadas said, “This week was a turning point because I think we’re starting to realize that Trumpism doesn’t merely tolerate sexual abuse, sexual abuse is a very apt metaphor for everything Trumpism is.”
He added, “This is a rape culture presidency and Donald Trump has become the commander in chief of American rape culture.”
Here’s the clip.
What can you even say about this?
Are Democrats living in a different dimension? Do they not know who Bill Clinton is? Do they not know who Ted Kennedy is? Are they not watching what’s going on in liberal Hollywood right now?
See if you can track this logic. A guy in the Trump White House allegedly does some bad things to women and that means that Trump is the face of rape culture? What? Let’s ignore the fact that Bill Clinton was credibly accused of rape. That means nothing. But, Trump is basically a rapist because he hired a guy who was doing things behind closed doors that no one knew about. Come up with proof that Trump knew exactly what was going on with this guy and ignored it. Until then, you’ve got nothing.
Make no mistake. The Democrats have created this Trump sexual assault narrative out of thin air. Yes, women have come out and accused Trump of doing bad things. We never heard about it before the election, criminal charges have not been filed, and Trump has vehemently denied the allegations. That’s not the same thing as Trump doing something wrong. In fact, it’s far from it.
It looks like John Kelly could lose his job for defending Rob Porter.
From New York Daily News:
The uproar over two senior members of the White House staff stepping down has led to calls for Kelly’s resignation, an offer he has reportedly made, and experts are questioning how much longer he’ll stay by President Trump’s side.
The aftershocks of White House staff secretary Rob Porter and speechwriter David Sorensen’s resignations reverberated amid concerns about access to classified information and about how long senior staffers knew about Porter’s exes’ claims of violent abuse.
Porter worked closely with Kelly and was a member of Trump’s inner circle. Trump says he only found out about the allegations over the last week.
How is that enabling rape culture?
