Some liberals and media seemed to go over the edge on 9/11, trying to use the anniversary of the attack to make political attacks and disgusting comparisons. Among them was Angus King of Maine and his GOP opponent is calling him out on it.
King is an independent who caucuses with the Democrats and he was at a 9/11 remembrance ceremony when he made his remarks.
King compared the 9/11 terrorist attacks to Russian hacking during the 2016 campaign and said they were the “same.”
He claimed that they were the same because they were attacks on “who we are.”
From Daily Caller:
“That was the beginning of an attack that I would argue is continuing today,” King said. “They used airplanes [to crash] into towers; now people can use the click of a computer key in St. Petersburg, Russia, to attack.”
“It’s an attack that continues, and it’s the same kind of attack today that occurred in 2001,” he said. “It’s an attack on who we are.”
His opponent, Eric Brakey, condemned the comments.
“I am appalled that Angus King, on today of all days, compared the brutal terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the murder of over 3,000 innocent Americans to Russian computer hackers. The two things are simply incomparable, and reflect the deranged thinking of Angus and his liberal allies,” Brakey said.
“Sen. King’s crass statements are an insult to the victims, their families and our first responders. King should retract his statement immediately and apologize for his shameful remark,” Brakey concluded.
According to Fox News Insider, Tucker Carlson said, “Only a person completely cut off from reality… could utter those words without turning red with shame.”
And one of the family members at the 9/11 ceremony in New York begged Democrats and people in the media to stop making such harmful comments for political purposes.
